Vegas, Baby, Vegas!

What’s my line, anyway?

Week #12 opening lines have been hung, so in this space we take a look at what the oddsmakers are laying down around the SEC and a few other games of interest.

With that, as always, if you’re going to dabble, please do so responsibly. Don’t forget, any line that seems too good to be true likely is, and the sharps in Vegas know what they’re doing.

Here’s a look at the SEC opening lines and a few other thoughts, with all lines courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook, who is an SBNation partner. All odds are subject to adjust during the week, and all kick times listed are central. TV provider listed in parentheses. The Nuggets of Wisdom (NoW) are free of charge, so you’re getting what you paid for there!

What are some of your favorite plays this week? Leave them in the comments section below and we’ll compare notes.

Saturday, Nov. 16th

  • 11 am (ABC) – Texas at Arkansas (+16.5 / 56.5 total)

NoW – Arkansas’ quest for bowl eligibility will likely have to wait one more week, as the 5-4 Razorbacks might be able to hang inside this number, but surely they wouldn’t dare knock off their old rival Texas Longhorns, would they? Or would they?…

  • 11:45 am (SECN) – UL-Monroe at Auburn (-24.5 / 46.5 total)

NoW – Prayers to all the people who have to work this game to make a living…

  • 12:30 pm (SECN+/ESPN+) – Murray State at Kentucky (No line posted)

NoW – So 1-9 Murray State plays at 3-6 Kentucky, and there’s no line established for this barn burner of a game? Color me shocked…

  • 1:00 pm (SECN+/ESPN+) – Mercer at Alabama (No line posted)

NoW – Wow the SEC is really lining up some beauties this weekend…

  • 2:30 pm (ABC) – LSU at Florida (+4.5 / 55.5 total)

NoW – I know Florida is reeling from an absolute beat-down at Texas, but LSU had better be careful about sleep walking in the Swamp, because a loss here might arouse the pitchfork and torch element of the Tigers fan base…

  • 3:15 pm (SECN) – Mizzou at South Carolina (-13.5 / 43.5 total)

NoW – Wow, I know the Tiger offense isn’t exactly an immovable force with Brady Cook out, but holy cow with Eli Drinkwitz be using this two-TD spread as disrespect this week!…

  • 6:30 pm (ABC) – Tennessee at Georgia (-9.5 / 49.5 total)

NoW – A little surprised to see this line hover near double digits at open, it’ll be interesting to see where it trends during the week as the public and wise guys come to the window to manipulate it…

  • 6:45 pm (SECN) – New Mexico State at Texas A&M (-40.5 / 54.5 total)

NoW – Yikes, you don’t see a lot of spreads hung this large…

Non-SEC games of interest

Saturday, Nov. 16th

  • Once again there aren’t any compelling matchups that I see in non-SEC games this week, so I won’t insult your intelligence by pretending that was the case. Enjoy the SEC slate and have a great Saturday!
