The rising junior is the second safety commitment of the portal window.

Another day, another defensive transfer addition!

While Mizzou continues its search for offensive fortification — QBs! OL! WRs! Oh my! — the defense continues to get stronger through the transfer portal. Mose Phillips III, formerly of Virginia Tech, is transferring to the Tigers, according to Hayes Fawcett at On3.

It’s the second safety commitment of the window for Mizzou’s defense, following Santana Banner’s commitment earlier this week. Much like Banner, Phillips III followed up a quiet freshman season with a breakout sophomore campaign. Phillips was a busy bee in the Hokies’ secondary, developing into one of the better tacklers in the unit. It’ll be a major step up to SEC play, but Phillips’ growth year-over-year is promising.
