Arkansas running back Ja’Quinden Johnson put a stiff-arm on MU’s Joseph Charleston on this play. According to Eli Hoff, Charleston has been playing much of this season with two broken thumbs, making it all the more impressive that he got up and made the tackle on this play.
2. Last-Ditch
Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green (10) attempts to throw the ball as he is sacked by Missouri defensive end Johnny Walker Jr. (15) in the fourth quarter of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
Johnny Walker Jr. sacked Arky’s Taylen Green on this play, continuing his streak of games with at least one sack. Incredibly, Green attempted to pass while almost to the ground, which resulted unsurprisingly in an incompletion.
3. Carroll Crash
Missouri running back Marcus Carroll (9) celebrates scoring a touchdown in the fourth quarter of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
Marcus Carroll had an excellent game, finishing with 90 yards and two touchdowns (and a third that was called back, which I got great pictures of, but it doesn’t matter.) Here, the Georgia State transfer stands in the end zone as he celebrates his second of the two.
4. Final Finish
Missouri quarterback Brady Cook (12) runs for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
Brady Cook finished his Missouri career with the best ending any player could ask for; he rushed for a game-winning touchdown, then passed to Luther Burden for the two-point conversion. Here’s my shot of his rush.
5. Game of Inches
Missouri defensive end Eddie Kelly Jr. (97) nearly misses a extra-point attempt from Arkansas kicker Matthew Shipley (36) in the fourth quarter of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
There are a few famous moments in football history involving kickers and blizzards, most famously the 1982 Dolphins-Patriots “Snowplow Game,” wherein the Patriots ordered a snowplow to clear a spot on the field for a crucial game-winning kick, which put the home squad up 3-0 over Don Shula’s Dolphins. No similar silliness occurred this year, but Eddie Kelly came very close, with his arm maybe a foot away from blocking an Arky PAT in the fourth quarter.
6. Winter Wonderland
Missouri players have a snow fight after the end of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
The arrival of snow Saturday morning reminded many of us that football is really a kid’s game. Even the players got in and played in the snow, just as many of us did as kids, (at least those lucky enough to grow up in places with four seasons.) Here’s some MU players having a snow fight after the big win. (Editor’s note: And other Rock M photographer, Mike Baniewicz, in the background)
7. Taking His Piece
Missouri quarterback Brady Cook (12) is carried off the field after the end of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
The tradition of seniors taking a rock from the Rock M is one of the best and most unique I’ve seen across all of sport. Here, 12 takes his piece across the field, hoisted by two other quarterbacks, Tommy Lock, left, and Drew Pyne, right.
8. Final Goodbye
Missouri quarterback Brady Cook (12) leaves Faurot Field for the last time after the end of a game against Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Faurot Field. (CAL TOBIAS/ROCK M NATION)
I had a lot of pictures of Brady Cook’s final exit from Faurot Field but settled on this one. What more can be said about the man? Some of it will end up in a recap I’m working on…
9. Run For It
Jacksonville State’s Valentina Saric (14) and Missouri point guard De’Myla Brown (1) both lose a ball in the second half of a game against Jacksonville State on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at Mizzou Arena. (Cal Tobias/Rock M Nation)
Turning to Sunday’s women’s basketball game, it would probably be unfair to keep including pictures of contested loose balls and rebounds when writing about games that MU wins so handily, as these pictures imply a closely contested game. However, these plays make great pictures, so I may keep taking them. Here’s Mizzou’s De’Myla Brown and Jax State’s Valentina Saric running right towards me!
10. Rick’s Lament
Jacksonville State head coach Rick Pietri is down after his team fell down by double digits in the first half of a game on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at Mizzou Arena. (Cal Tobias/Rock M Nation)
I found that the most entertaining thing on the court (besides Grace Slaughter and Nyah Wilson’s combined 30 points) was Jax State head coach Rick Pietri, who was yelling and shouting all kinds of things all game long. At the end, however, he just looked dejected.
