Fans are “somewhat” confident Mizzou can pick up win number six over Hugh Freeze’s Tigers.
Confidence is a precious commodity these days. That’s something of a shocker considering how much optimism Mizzou fans started the year with. But we don’t make the rules: when you get beat by 31 points on national TV by a “lesser” opponent, you lose some cred.
Eli Drinkwitz and his team were able to bounce back in Amherst last weekend, but a different type of test awaits when Auburn takes the field later this morning. Hugh Freeze’s Tigers probably aren’t very good, but they’re talented and disruptive enough to give Mizzou fits if the black-and-gold can’t finally put their best foot forward.
We asked y’all how confident you were feeling heading into this matchup in our mid-week Reacts poll. Survey says:
I have to say, I’m impressed. Seventy-seven percent of you feeling somewhat to very confident is a a rebound from how morale seemed last week, when some of you were wondering if Mizzou could even get on the right side of 8 wins. A win over Auburn would be a big step toward rebounding and making a playoff run, so it’s nice to see some fight get revived in the fanbase.
We’ve also been thinking a bit about the gut-wrenching loss on the Plains in 2022… you know, the one when Nate Peat literally fumbled the win away? We wanted to know if y’all still think about it too. Survey says:
Something tells me a good chunk of you are lying, but hey. I guess numbers don’t lie.
