Tigers dispose of Jackson State in quick fashion, 90-51
Mizzou Women’s Hoops (11-4) left no doubt after a 10-day hiatus from the court, pummeling Jackson State (2-9) 90-51 in the final game before SEC play.
This one was over from the jump, as the home team never trailed while leading 24-7 (football score) after the first quarter.
A large part of the early success came from Grace Slaughter, who scored 17 first half-points, nearly measuring up to the 19 points in the first 20 minutes from the visiting team. She finished the game tying her career-high with 22 points on 8-12 shooting and 4-6 from three.

This served as a major bounceback game for the sophomore, after finishing with four points on 1-6 shooting in the upset loss against Oral Roberts.
Mizzou led this game in practically every statistical category, but the discrepancy became clear in both team’s shooting from the field. The home team finished 34-67 for 51% on field goals while holding the visitors to 16-61 for 26%.
This marked the third time that the Tigers have exceeded 90 points, improving to 3-0 on the year (no surprises there).
A lot of those points came easy, as the home team took advantage of 17 turnovers forced on 11 steals. Mizzou turned those turnovers into 26 points, often coming easy in the middle of transition.
Laniah Randle had her fingerprints all over this game, finishing with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. In bigger news, she finally surpassed 1,000 career points in the game, most of which came at Southern Illinois.
“It just shows the work I’ve put in over…the years,” Randle said. “Just going to keep taking it day by day.”

Angie Ngalakulondi secured her first double-double as a Tiger, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds on 5-10 shooting. She came close on several occasions, including a 10-rebound, 9-point outing against Northern Illinois earlier this month.
“Being on the boards and doing the things I can do is the biggest thing. I think I was able to clear my mind and go out there and get that done and just be in the right place for when SEC [play] starts,” Ngalakulondi said.
As a whole, Mizzou dominated the glass, winning the battle for the boards 50-33.
This marked the Tigers’ 11th win on the season, matching their win total from the previous season after finishing 9-5 in the non-conference slate in 2023-24. This matched the 11 wins in 2022-23, the last time the Tigers made the postseason in the WNIT after finishing the year 18-14.
“I think overall it’s been a solid non-con for us. We had some bumps in the road, I think out of wins and losses we’ve been able to learn and peel back the layers,” head coach Robin Pingeton said.
Mizzou now turns its attention towards SEC play, where they will conclude this extended homestand against No. 2 South Carolina (12-1) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 2, 2025 on SEC Network.
