Bowl game Music City Nashville! What more could you want outside of the College Football playoff?

With an expanded playoff, there’s this feeling I have of the near forgotten Bowl season.

11 bowls have already been played, and that’s not counting the first round of the CFP. There are three more bowls today, five more tomorrow, eight more on Saturday, all before we get to Mizzou versus Iowa on Monday.

What’s interesting about Mizzou-Iowa is that the Tigers have played Iowa’s biggest rival, Iowa State, more than Iowa has. Yes Mizzou vs Iowa State has happened 103 time over the years, whereas Iowa-Iowa State have only played 68 times. Mizzou and Iowa on the other hand have only played each other 13 times, and just once since 1911. That was an Insight Bowl game which capped a disappointing end to very promising season. That was the year the Tigers beat Oklahoma at home before College GameDay and were 7-0 before dropping the next game at Nebraska.

Even the Insight Bowl game seemed to mirror at that season when the Tigers looked like they were in completely control with a 4 point lead and driving for another score before an interception was returned for a touchdown.

I understand if you’re not enthused by this contest. Few people are excited to play Iowa these days. But I look at it like this: we have one more chance to cheer for Brady Cook, Theo Wease, Kristian Williams, Johnny Walker, Jr, Corey Flagg, Joseph Charleston, Luke Bauer, Mitchell Walters, Cam’Ron Johnson, Marcus Bryant, Drake Heismeyer, Tyler Stephens, Nate Noel, Marcus Carroll, and maybe Tristen Newson all play football.

Go Tigers.
