The Morning Commute for Thursday, November 28
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hoops’ winning streak.
Happy Thanksgiving, Mizzou fans! We can celebrate the holiday with a Mizzou Basketball six-game winning streak.
After an 81-61 win over Lindenwood on Wednesday night, the Tigers improved to 6-1 on the season as Marques Warrick led the team with 17 points. Having said that, Mizzou didn’t exactly play their best game right before the Thanksgiving break.

Obviously, the main concern is with Caleb Grill — who suffered a head and neck injury during the first half on an awkward play.

It was later announced by a team spokesperson that Grill was responsive and was taken to the hospital as precaution.

Gates said postgame that they are awaiting CT scan results.
#Mizzou HC Dennis Gates says they are waiting for results from Caleb Grill’s CT scan, after he went down with a ‘head and neck injury.’ He was responsive, which is good.

Here’s wishing the best news possible on Caleb Grill, who has been shooting lights out lately.
Missouri’s performance against Lindenwood dropped them a couple of spots to 53rd on KenPom. Per Bart Torvik, their “Game Score” of 64 was their lowest since Eastern Washington (49). Though 6-1 is 6-1 with their only loss on the road to a really good Memphis team — who just finished second in the Maui Invitational.
Tougher tests are upcoming, of course. Up next, Missouri will host Cal in the SEC-ACC Challenge on Tuesday night. The Golden Bears are also 6-1 on the season with a notable road win over Eric Musselman’s USC squad, but an 85-69 loss to Vanderbilt.
Then, Mizzou will host unbeaten and No. 1 kU on Sunday, December 8th in the Border War. Enough said.
This stretch of buy games is over. Will see what this team is made of next week.

- Morning Commute from Chad Moller: The 90th Heisman Trophy competition is down to a three-player race
“Tiger fans all had off-season hopes of seeing their very own superstar, WR Luther Burden III contend for the prestigious award that’s never gone to a Mizzou player. That never really materialized for various reasons, but it was fun to dream.”
The Luther Burden Heisman hype was fun in the offseason, but Moller writes that it’s down to Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty, and Cam Ward.
“What’s even more encouraging is that the coaching staff seems to be looking ahead to a Noel and Carroll-less 2025. By giving them significant snaps and carries in high-leverage spots, the coaches are setting up Jamal Roberts and Kewan Lacy to ostensibly be the two-headed monster on the ground for Mizzou next year.”
Even with losing Carroll and Noel, Mizzou’s running back situation should be in a good spot heading into next season.
“I guarantee you it won’t be pretty but that’s not how this team operates. Win for the seniors!
Nate with his preview analysis on the Razorbacks. It’s Senior Day. Just win.
“My prediction: Mizzou 90, Lindenwood 50”
It wasn’t quite the 40-point win that Quentin predicted and Mizzou was hoping for, but the Tigers did take care of business by 20.
“This week, we had something most unusual happen. Both the MVPs were the same as last week. Now I try to avoid this as much as possible, but this week both the players just had analytical performances that put themselves far and away better than the rest of the team.”
Luther Burden III and Johnny Walker Jr. have repeated analytics MVPs with the win over Mississippi State.
“Best Bets now sits at 23-18 (39-39-2 overall) so we are guaranteed to finish the regular season in the black. That said, much like Mizzou we need to rally and finish strong to close out the year. Let’s get to it!”
Nathan previews the Week 14 College Football slate from a betting angle.
“A team spokesman said that Grill suffered a head and neck injury, was responsive and was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.”
The most important outcome of this game is the health of Caleb Grill.
“Mizzou’s final regular season match against Auburn has taken on even more significance as the team hopes to lock in a far more manageable six seed, which would greatly ease the path to achieving the goal of a Sweet Sixteen berth.”
Mizzou Volleyball was also in action on Wednesday night but have now lost two in a row and three out of their last four after losing to Kentucky. The Tigers have one more game remaining in the regular season on Saturday after the football game.
