The Morning Commute for Thursday, December 19

Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football opt outs.

We’re getting closer to the Missouri Tigers’ Music City Bowl game vs Iowa, and on Wednesday we learned some more opt outs on the roster.

Luther Burden III and Armand Membou were the previous and obvious opt outs due to declaring for the NFL Draft, but Eli Drinkwitz announced yesterday that linebacker Chuck Hicks will not be participating in Mizzou’s bowl game.

Meanwhile, tight end Brett Norfleet will also miss the Tigers’ bowl game after undergoing surgery.

How about an update on Sam Horn? He’s not a full participant yet but expects to be ready for spring football, as well as baseball.

A shorthanded Mizzou roster gets the Hawkeyes in the TransPerfect Music City in Nashville — Monday, December 30th at 1:30 p.m. CST on ESPN.

“What say you? Take a look below and cast your vote who you think will come away with the trophy in this historic first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff!”

Vote on who will win it all in the first 12-team CFP, which starts tonight with Indiana vs Notre Dame in South Bend.

“This is a great commitment and furthers the narrative of Arkansas players heading north to play college ball.”

Always a good thing to get recruits from the state of Arkansas.

“Even with these recent losses, Mizzou is still winning. The very same day that Lacy announced his entrance into the portal (and sketchy same-day commitment to Ole Miss), the Tigers landed three experienced defensive players in linebackers Josiah Trotter and Mikai Gbayor and safety Santana Banner.”

You win some, you lose some in the transfer portal.

“Up next is Illinois. 16 in Kenpom. Then a reprieve with Alabama State. Then you’re on the road against #1 Auburn (#2 in the AP Poll but tops in KenPom). If you haven’t been paying attention, the SEC is an absolute gauntlet this year.”

The schedule is about to get real for this 10-1 Mizzou Basketball team.

“Hardy had 94 missed tackles this season. The only player with more? Ashton Jeanty.”

An impressive get via the transfer portal for Mizzou Football with the addition of Ahmad Hardy.

“Drinkwitz revealed that his team will travel to Nashville to take on the Hawkeyes on the 27th, as the game will be played on the 30th.”

Hear what Eli Drinkwtiz, Theo Wease Jr., and Kristian Williams had to say before heading to Nashville for the Music City Bowl.

“Mizzou failed to spread holiday joy to its home fans, never finding the lead in a 76-63 upset loss in its holiday game against Oral Roberts.”

Mizzou WBB suffers a setback dropping to 10-4 on the season.
