The Morning Commute for Thursday, October 31
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about the latest on Brady Cook
The Missouri Tigers received some good news on the injury front on Wednesday. Quarterback Brady Cook is expected to return at some point this season, according to Eli Drinkwitz on the SEC Teleconference.
Eli Drinkwitz said that he’s “absolutely expecting” #Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook to return this season.
We’ll see what the SEC-mandated injury reports say this week.

According to Eli Hoff’s reporting, Cook is line to miss the Oklahoma game on November 9th and possibly the South Carolina game on the 16th. An exact return date hasn’t been made public, however.
News: #Mizzou QB Brady Cook is “absolutely” expected to be able to return this season, despite separate injuries to the starting quarterback’s ankle and wrist/hand area.

Regardless, it’s a positive sign for the No. 25 6-2 Tigers, who enter their bye week looking to get back to full health and finish the regular season strong.
In other tidbits, Mark Mitchell has landed on the Julius Erving Award Watch List for the nation’s top small forward.

Morning Commute from Chad Moller: Of meaningless goal line stands, starters and frivolous timeouts
“But come on, sending starters back out? And calling a timeout with four minutes left in a game with an outcome that was decided after the first drive of the third quarter? Those moves were completely unnecessary. Just let it play out and see what happens.”
Well said from Chad here. No need to bring the starters back in.
No playoffs, no problem from Nathan Hurst: Mizzou still has plenty to play for
“Winning nine regular season games has only been achieved nine times total, so hitting that mark in the regular season and then jumping to 10 wins with a bowl victory would automatically place this “disappointing” season as a top 10 season in Mizzou football history. That’s not nothing.
Great stat from Hurst here.
Bye Week Breakdown 2 from Nate Edwards: Offense
“At this point this offense is what they are and Kirby Moore is just going to have to learn to scheme around it.”
An unfortunate but true statement here from Nate.
Mizzou Hoops Player Preview from Matthew Harris and Matt Watkins: Mark Mitchell
Player Preview | #Mizzou made a big splash in April landing Duke transfer Mark Mitchell. The fourth Tiger from the Sunflower State will use his elite potential to supply the Tigers steady offense — and defensive flexibility.

“What we can say with supreme confidence is that Mitchell is going to play and play a lot.”
Duke transfer Mark Mitchell is the latest on our Mizzou Hoops player previews. Can Mitchell raise the ceiling for the Tigers this season?
“There’s plenty to talk about how bad the Tigers were analytically, but that’s not what these pieces are about. Let’s take a look at the MVPs:”
Jamal Roberts and Johnny Walker Jr. were the bright spots in the 34-0 loss to Alabama.
SEC Hoops Preview from Sam Snelling: Auburn Tigers
“My Results: Auburn Tigers — 2nd in Conference, 13-5
Auburn is our latest SEC hoops team preview, where Sam predicts the Tigers to go 13-5 and finish 2nd in the league.
Best Bets from Nathan Hurst: Week 10
Best Bets are 18-11 this year. I’m not bragging but I’m also not NOT bragging about it: https://t.co/GTJ9uud8sX

“Mizzou may be on a bye week this week, but Best Bets takes no weeks off. On to Week 10!”
With a record of 18-11 on the season, Nathan previews the College Football Week 10 slate from a betting angle.
