The Morning Commute for Tuesday, December 3
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Hoops’ NET ranking.
It was a big Monday news day for Mizzou Football with the commitment of four-star WR DaMarion Fowlkes and Luther Burden III officially declaring for the NFL Draft. We’ve got it all covered here on Rock M Nation and at RockM.plus.
But with no more Mizzou Football until their bowl game whenever that may be — it’s time to switch our focus to Mizzou Basketball.
The first NET rankings of the college basketball season were released on Monday morning, and with a record of 6-1, Mizzou Hoops comes in at No. 46 in the country with their only loss in the season opener on the road to Memphis.
The Tigers are one of 11 teams in the SEC that are inside the Top 50.
Happy NET Day!

Of course, the one thing that’s obviously hurting Missouri is their weak non-conference schedule, which is currently ranked 265th. That will change, however.
The Tigers host Cal tonight in the SEC-ACC Challenge — and the 6-1 Golden Bears are ranked 78th in the NET. kU comes to Columbia on Sunday afternoon — and the 7-0 Jayhawks are ranked 9th.
Needless to say, it’s an important week upcoming Dennis Gates and the Mizzou Basketball program. More discussion over at Rock M Plus.

“Missouri moved up four spots to No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, but only two spots to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 rankings”
Tune in tonight on ESPN to see where Mizzou is ranked in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
“In arguably his best game in black-and-gold, Carroll racked up 90 yards rushing and two key touchdowns, including one capped by a memorable snow angel celebration that seems destined to live on as a signature moment of the season.”
In the last MV3 edition of the regular season, Marcus Carroll comes in at No. 1 in the 28-21 win over Arkansas
“This group has one more game to play, a bowl game to be determined, that will close the book on the second wave of players that turned around the Mizzou football program under Eli Drinkwitz.”
Truly an end of an era for a special group of guys.
“While all of the seniors who were recognized before Saturday’s game deserve a ton of praise, I wanted to focus here on one of them who I feel played a huge role in this team’s success the past two seasons – wideout Theo Wease, Jr.”
Chad gives a shoutout to Theo Wease Jr.’s Mizzou career.
“One day after flipping 4-star RB Marquise Davis from Kentucky, the Tigers pulled off another flip, this time from 4-star WR DaMarion Fowlkes, who was previously committed to Pat Narduzzi and Pittsburgh.”
Merry Flipmas! Drinkwitz and the staff has landed yet another four-star.
Some good Battle Line pics from Cal here mixed in with some WBB.
“As part of the decision, Burden told ESPN that he will not play in Mizzou’s upcoming bowl game.”
Just like that, Luther Burden III’s Mizzou career is over. Thank you, LB3!
“Mizzou will host the Golden Bears in the ACC/SEC challenge Tuesday, with the Tigers looking to defeat their first high-major opponent in the young 2024-25 campaign after falling to Memphis in the season-opener.”
Read what Dennis Gates and Trent Pierce had to say on Monday to preview the Cal game.
“It would be a mistake to undersell it: Mizzou needed Luther Burden III.”
LB3 has brought this Mizzou Football program back to national relevancy.
