The Morning Commute for Monday, December 2

Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we’re talking about football, volleyball, and WBB

The regular season has come to a close, and the Missouri Tigers will end the year as a ranked team.

Coming off of their 28-21 win over Arkansas on Saturday, Mizzou has moved up in both polls.

Missouri moved up four spots to No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, but only two spots to No. 22 in the AP Top 25 rankings. Stay tuned for the latest College Football Playoff rankings, coming up on Tuesday night.

Elsewhere, Mizzou Volleyball is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row under Dawn Sullivan. The Tigers are a No. 7 seed in the Dallas Regional vs Texas State.

And Mizzou Women’s Basketball improved to 7-3 on the young season with a 79-45 win over Jacksonville State. Laniah Randle and Grace Slaughter led the way with 15 points each.

“The regular season is over and Missouri is a 9-3 football team. A season which some would call a disappointment, but again I’ll just remind us all this is only the 9th time in school history the Tigers have won as many as 9 games”

It’s a disappointment that Mizzou will miss the CFP, but still a good year overall.

“The road ahead includes a pair of solid mid-majors and the first addition of the SEC-ACC Challenge”

Dylan looks at Mizzou WBB’s upcoming stretch.

“The reality of it is is that Missouri stayed true to their game and eventually it broke the Razorbacks down enough to cause cracks in their defense.”

Mizzou kept relying on their running game, and it worked.

“Mizzou Sports this Week:

Sun, Dec. 1: WBB vs. Jackson State, 2pm

Tues, Dec. 3: MBB vs. California, 6pm

Thur, Dec. 5: WBB vs. SMU, 8pm

Sat, Dec. 7: WBB vs. N. Illinois, 2pm | WR AT SIUE, 10am | T&F AT Boston U

Sun, Dec. 8: MBB vs. kU, 12pm

Read and listen to all of our Rock M coverage last week, and it’s a big week ahead for men’s and women’s hoops.

“What are some of your favorite plays this week? Leave them in the comments section below and we’ll compare notes.”

Chad looks at the opening lines for College Football’s championship weekend.

“Laniah Randle registered her third double-double of the season, dropping 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds.”

Another big performance from Laniah Randle helping Mizzou improve to 7-3.

“For the second straight season, Mizzou Volleyball is postseason bound. The Tigers made the NCAA Tournament as a seven seed and will face the Texas State Bobcats in Dallas on Thursday.”

Big things are happening in the Dawn Sullivan era.

“Marquise Davis, a four-star running back from Cleveland, Ohio has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Missouri.”

Is Mizzou Football becoming “RBU”?
