This week’s picks focus on some big point spreads and some rivalry games in the Big 12 and Big 10.

Talk about the mother of all bounce back weeks. Best Bets took the opposite approach to Mizzou in Week 9 and knocked it out of the park, going a perfect 3-0 for the second time this season. We told you to hammer Indiana -6.5 and they won by 14. We told you to hit the Under 55 on Mizzou-Alabama… and Mizzou got shut out so that was easy money, and our semi-weekly BYU pick stayed hot as they beat UCF comfortably. Best Bets moves to 18-11 on the year.
Our other picks last week were more of a mixed bag at 2-2, but we did have Arkansas blowing out Mississsipi State as well as hitting the Over 58, which happened halfway through the third quarter. However 5-2 on the week isn’t too bad, bringing our total record back to .500 at 27-27-1. Mizzou may be on a bye week this week, but Best Bets takes no weeks off. On to Week 10!
Best Bets
Kansas State (-13) @ Houston
This one is pretty simple. Houston is really bad and Kansas State is the type of program that hammers really bad teams. Even on the road, the Wildcats will find a way to get a lead and smother Houston the whole second half. This one won’t be a four touchdown victory for Kansas State, but it’ll feel like it, even if they only win by 17.
Navy (-11) @ Rice
The Midshipmen went into their match up with Notre Dame last week undefeated and sailing with fair winds on following seas. Well, they got utterly demolished by the Fighting Irish, playing their worst game of the season by fumbling SEVEN times and losing five of them. There’s one thing I can promise this week and that is that Navy won’t fumble seven times against Rice. The Owls are bad and Navy will bounce back in a big way this week.
USC @ Washington (+2.5)
For some reason, Vegas just can’t quit USC, despite the Trojans repeatedly proving they can’t win on the road. They lost to Minnesota and Maryland for crying out loud. Washington is no juggernaut this year, but they have played well at home. I’m picking the Huskies to win this game outright, so if Vegas wasn’t to give me 2.5 points, I’m going to take them and run.
Worth a look
UMASS @ Mississippi State (-18)
There are two things I know about this game. 1) Mississippi State is really bad. 2) UMASS is way, way worse. The Bulldogs aren’t very good at many things, but one thing they can do is sling it around the yard and score some points. Their defense also sucks, so UMASS might put up a few points themselves. I’m taking Mississippi State to win easily and here’s another tip… Bonus Bet: Take the O60 as well. Our bonus bets are undefeated this year so you’d be shooting yourself in the foot not to invest.
Ohio State (-3.5) @ Penn State
Penn State hasn’t won a big game in 30 years. This is a really big game for them since a win would keep them undefeated and give them a two-game lead over Ohio State in the Big 10 standings. Thus, they are disqualified from winning this game. Ohio State came really close to laying an egg last week at home against Nebraska so expect them to come into Happy Valley fired up and looking to take it out on the Nittany Lions.
TCU @ Baylor (-3)
We’ve taken our shots at Baylor a few times this season on Best Bets, but it looks like Dave Aranda and the Bears might have finally turned things around. After losing four straight, they are coming off back-to-back wins against Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. TCU enters this game with a fairly fraudulent 5-3 record. This is a very underrated rivalry game and Baylor is hosting, so give me the Bears by more than 3 points.
