Appalachian State Transfer Edge Nate Johnson Commits to Mizzou Football

The App State to Mizzou pipeline continues with the addition of edge Nate Johnson

Another day, another transfer portal addition for Mizzou Football.

This time, it’s on the defensive side of the ball as the Missouri Tigers get more help from the defensive line position.

Appalachian State transfer edge rusher Nate Johnson has committed to Missouri, he announced Saturday morning on X.

In two seasons at Appalachian State, Johson had 77 total tackles in 25 games played along with 10 career sacks. In his freshman season in 2023, Johnson was named to second team All-Sun Belt and a first-team all-freshman from The Athletic.

DL Nate Johnson, Appalachian State: The 6-foot-5, 230-pound edge rusher and former three-star recruit from Gaffney, S.C., helped the Mountaineers reach the Sun Belt championship game by leading them in sacks (7.5) and tackles for loss (9.5). He earned second-team All-Sun Belt honors, racking up 39 tackles and 36 pressures over 537 snaps.

Johnson, who recently took a visit to USC — becomes the 10th transfer portal addition for Mizzou Football thus far joining Kevin Coleman, Santana Banner, Mikai Gbayor, Josiah Trotter, Langden Kitchen, Ahmad Hardy, Mose Phillips III, Dominick Giudice, and Keagen Trost.

Johnson will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Missouri’s transfer portal class currently ranks 10th on 247Sports, 4th on Rivals, and 4th via On3.
